16 Day Classic Tour East Coast

Day 1: Kuala Lumpur

You will be picked up from Kuala Lumpur and will be transfered to Kuala Lumpur International Airport KLIA or KLIA2 depending on your scheduled flight. Please note that this is transfer only and stops along the way are not included.

Day 2: Kuala Lumpur

Enjoy cycling while exploring bustling Kuala Lumpur, on a full size “Dutch” bike. Ignore the morning traffic and cycle where cars are not allowed, visiting the most hyped alleys and kampung streets (village street) of KL. In the morning, make your way to the starting point, at least 15 minutes prior starting time. Meet with your guide, and after a short briefing, start to enjoy the ride visiting some of the highlights of Kuala Lumpur. You will be cycling around the remnants of a very old Malay settlement, with the modern Petronas Twin Towers as a background. Visit the local wet market, pass by Chinatown and Dataran Merdeka for a peek of the Colonial Buildings. Along the way, you will stop for a visit to a number of Temples and Mosques. A light typical Malaysian lunch will be served in a local restaurant, before ending the tour and cycle to the starting point. This is a 4-hour bike tour. Please note that if you visit places of worship, keep in mind that you may be required to remove your shoes as a sign of respect, before entering the premises.

Day 3: Kuala Lumpur

You will have free time at leisure to explore Kuala Lumpur.

Day 4: Kuala Lumpur - Penang

Today, you will depart from Kuala Lumpur to Butterworth. At Kuala Lumpur Railway Station, please present your e-ticket to the KTM train counter to verify your departing platform. You may use this e-ticket to board the train. We recommend that you reach the railway station at least 45 minutes prior to departure to allow for enough time to present your e-ticket and find your platform. Please note that delays are always a possibility. Once in Butterworth you will head towards the ferry terminal and take a ferry to George Town in Penang. Please arrange your hotel transfer once you reach George Town due to the wide variation in arrival times; you can very easily find a taxi to take you to your hotel (not included).

Day 5: Penang

You will have free time at leisure to explore Penang.

Day 6: Penang - Cameron Highlands

Today, you travel from Penang Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal, located in the outskirt of Penang to Cameron Highlands by Express Bus. We request that you arrive at the Departure Address at least 30 minutes before Departure Time. If arranging your own transport, we suggest taking a taxi and to Penang Ferry Pier to Butterworth Ferry Pier the bus terminal is located walking distance the Butterworth Ferry Pier. Unfortunately, we are not able to arrange any pick-up transport for you as the bus arrival time may vary. We suggest taking a taxi to your hotel upon your arrival. A metered taxi fare would be between RM 15-50 (not included).

Day 7: Cameron Highlands

Hop into the Land Rover cruising along with the picturesque rolling tea garden . Our nature guide will pick you up from your hotel in the morning. Listen to your guide “Tea Talk” while enjoying the magnificent view of the surrounding area. An interpretive walk with the nature guides around the Mossy Forest will reveal some of the exotic floras on earth, like the Pitcher plant, Orchids, Primitive Ferns, Spices, and Medicinal Plants. A short drive down will bring you to the Sungai Palas ‘BOH’ Tea plantation. Depending on the traffic, tour might start first with the visit to the tea plantation and continue to the Mossy Forest. At the end of the tour, transfer back to the hotel. (Drinks not included).

Day 8: Cameron Highlands

You will have free time at leisure to explore Cameron Highlands.

Day 9: Cameron Highlands - Taman Negara

You will be picked up from Cameron Highlands and will be transfered to Kuala Tahan. Please note that this is transfer only and stops along the way are not included. Kindly note that you are required to pay for the water taxi to cross onto the other side of the river. Charges are approximately 3.00MYR per person and 2.00MYR per luggage (not included).

Experience the night jungle walk in one of the oldest rainforest in the world. Gather at Mutiara Taman Negara lobby at least 15 minutes before starting time. Meet with your nature guide, and after a short briefing start the exciting activity. During the night jungle walk, keep an eye out for many creatures such as the ingeniously disguised stick insect, the praying mantis and other insect active during the night. Little mammals and reptiles may also be seen from time to time and depending on the weather. Remember to bring along a flashlight, to help you while walking on the planked trail. The guide will have one for himself, so don't worry about getting lost. The tour will end at Mutiara Taman Negara Resort lobby.

Day 10: Taman Negara

Experience the most panoramic view at Taman Negara's famed Canopy Walk, as well as the trek up Bukit Teresek. You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning, and we have arranged a wooden longboat to bring you to the base of Bukit Teresek. The Canopy Walk is located at Bukit Teresek. Hanging 40 meters above the rainforest and 530 meters across, the Canopy Walk offers a unique perspective and brings you closer to parts of the forest you would never be able to see otherwise. Bukit Teresek peaks at 334 meters and offers a stunning view over the Taman Negara National Park with Gunung Tahan in the distance. Standing at 2,187 meters, Gunung Tahan is the highest peak in Peninsular Malaysia. At the end of the activity, you will be transferred back to your hotel. We highly recommend bringing along a bottle of water, wearing loose & light clothing, and wearing proper jungle trekking boots.

Please note that the Canopy Walk is closed every Friday. In the event that you are in Taman Negara on a Friday, then you will switch Days 9 and 10 so that you start on the Canopy Walk on Day 9 and Night Jungle Walk on Day 10.

Day 11: Taman Negara - Perhentian

You will be picked up from Kuala Tahan and will be transfered to Kuala Besut. Please note that this is transfer only and stops along the way are not included. The shared (SIC) boat ride from Kuala Besut jetty to Perhentian will be anywhere between 20-40 minutes (it all depends on the sea conditions). Upon arriving at Kuala Besut, please kindly proceed to the Tuna Bay Island Resort to check-in and register for the boat ride. Please also prepare some cash for the Marine Conservation Fee of RM 30 per adult and RM 15 per child (subject to change). All visitors to Perhentian, Lang Tengah and Redang Islands are required to pay a Conservation Fee to the Marine Parks of Malaysia (booth located at the Kuala Besut Jetty). All Conservation Fees will be credited to the Marine Park and Marine Reserve Trust Fund. The Trust Fund is used for management purposes of the Marine Park Centres and to provide basic facilities for the guests at the Marine Park Centres. Fees are not included.

Days 12-15: Perhentian

You will have free time at leisure to explore Perhentian.

Day 16: Perhentian

The shared (SIC) boat ride back to the mainland will take approximately 20-40 minutes (depending on weather conditions). The resort kindly requests that your re-confirm your boat timing on the day before departure with the reception. Please also kindly be at the resorts reception approximately 15-30 minutes prior to start time. You can either return to Kuala Lumpur by bus or travel north for a 1.5-hour transfer to Kota Bharu Airport, where you can catch a connecting flight (not included).
